Brady Duke is a father of five, a Christian minister, and decorated former Navy SEAL sniper. He served for nearly a decade with SEAL Team One, with multiple deployments to the Middle East in support of the Global War on Terror. Operating as a sniper and breacher, Duke deployed to Afghanistan and earned multiple awards, including two Navy Commendation medals, one with valor.
It was Brady’s childhood dream to become a Navy SEAL. In fact, as a kid, he carried an article about Navy SEALs taken from his father’s Popular Mechanics magazine.
He achieved his dream in 2007 and shortly after, he found a new dream when he met his wife, Julie. But that was just the beginning. Together they envisioned a life surrounded by children and family and just before his second deployment Julie and Brady became parents.
But it wasn’t easy, as a young parent Brady remained on active duty, spending time away from home as he trained thousands of other SEALs getting ready to deploy.
Upon honorably separating from the Navy, Brady, Julie and their young family moved back to Florida and settled in Oviedo, chosen for its charm, history, and family-focused sense of community. It also was just down the road from Chuluota, where he spent his early childhood and the place where his grandparents still reside.
His family has since grown. The Dukes have been blessed with one girl and four boys, and they are thrilled to have another boy on the way!
In addition to raising their growing family, Brady and his wife operate Intervene Ministries and offer online coaching through a course called The Freedom Journey. Brady is also a local small business owner where he specializes in training law enforcement and SWAT Teams in close-quarters combat and tactics.
Brady has come a long way since the days of cutting out Navy SEAL articles from his father’s Popular Mechanics Magazine. But that brave and ambitious young boy, who later became a decorated combat veteran, has never forgotten what it means to serve and the responsibility that goes along with it.
Now Brady has a new mission, to serve his community as Mayor of Oviedo. Relying on his leadership skills, toughness, world experiences, and training, he will honor Oviedo’s past, while providing genuine leadership for the city’s promising future.
